Analysis of The Digital Extension Content of The Central Administration of Agricultural Extension and Environment Website, Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, Egypt

Abstract

This research aimed to identify the content of main and sub-sections of the Central Administration of Agricultural Extension (CAAE) website, analyze the digital content of "Agricultural Guidelines" section, analyze their characteristics and identify their deficiencies by content analysis approach. The “Agricultural Guidelines” section was selected to analyze all of its published digital content, which amounted to 230 digital materials, representing 31.3% of the total contents of the CAAE website, which amounted to 1123 at 19 July 2024. Frequencies, percentages, averages, rank, and “F” test were used to present and analyze the results. The most important results showed that "plant production, led by vegetable crops", "ranked first with a percentage of 54.35%, followed by "animal production, led by fish", "agricultural pests, led by insects" and "Food Sciences" with percentages of 26.96%, 17.39% and 1.30% respectively. There were no statistically significant differences between the mean scores of audience interaction with the content. The majority of the content were among "Text and Images" category with a percentage of 84.8%, and the CAAE ranked first as the publisher and source of the extension material with percentages of 70.0% and 40.4% respectively. Most of the content was published in 2014 with a percentage of 85.22%, and the majority of it without a release date, with a percentage of 66.09%. The most important deficiencies were identified as follows: out of date content since 2014, absence of some agricultural areas, in addition to some technical problems, and some contents that were not well simplified.
